Ilse Van Marcke

EDUCATION

Ilse holds a Master in Law from the University of Ghent and attended the Advanced Master in Intellectual Property rights at the University of Brussels.

CAREER

Ilse started her career in 2010 as a Trademark and Design attorney. Prior to joining IP Hills in 2022, she worked at two leading IP firms in Ghent and Brussels for more than 10 years, where she provided legal and strategic advice on the protection and enforcement of intellectual property and the maintenance and optimization of IP portfolios to both SMEs and multinationals in various sectors.

AREAS OF PRACTICE

Her areas of practice include:

• Strategic advice on the protection of IP;
• Advising on the availability of trademarks;
• FTO searches (designs);
• Maintenance and optimization of IP and domain name portfolios;
• Representing clients in opposition and invalidity proceedings before the Benelux Office for Intellectual Property (BOIP) and the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO professional representative);
• Drafting and negotiating IP related agreements;
• Advice on copyright matters;
• Enforcement of IP rights;
• Representing clients in domain name arbitration proceedings.

COMPETENCES

Ilse is specialized in trademark law, design law and copyright and assists clients in  domain name negotiations and arbitration proceedings.

LANGUAGES

Ilse is a native Dutch speaker and speaks English and French as well.
